Once connected, the app can post to a Telegram group: signup and withdrawal notices, the signup report, the collections report, birdie and eagle alerts, leaderboard updates, and a Quick Signup button members can tap.

It also works in the other direction. Messages posted in the Telegram group appear in the event chat inside the app and in the Discuss thread, so members who prefer Telegram and members who prefer the app are in the same conversation.

Photos posted in the group are saved to your own storage and added to that event's Gallery automatically.

In Telegram, open a chat with @BotFather and send /newbot. It asks for a display name, then a username ending in "bot". When it finishes it gives you a token — a long string like 8054605460:AAG...

In the app, go to your league page, open League Settings, find the Telegram section and paste the token there. Save.

One bot serves the whole league. You do not need a bot per event.

Create a Telegram group for the league, or use one you already have, and add your bot to it as a member.

By default Telegram bots cannot read ordinary group messages — a privacy setting hides them. If you leave it that way, chat will not mirror into the app and Detect will find nothing.

Two ways to fix that: make the bot an administrator of the group, or message @BotFather, send /setprivacy, choose your bot and set it to Disable. Either works; making it an admin is usually simpler.

Telegram groups can be split into topics. If you want event posts kept out of the main conversation, turn Topics on in the group settings and create one — for example "Event Info".

The app can post into a specific topic rather than the group's general feed. Members still see everything in one group, but the reports and alerts stay in their own thread.

Topics are optional. Without them everything posts to the group as normal.

Open the event, edit it, and find the Telegram Notifications panel.

Press Link Chat once. This connects your bot to the app for the whole league — you only ever need to do this once, not per event.

Now post a message in the Telegram group. If you are using topics, post it inside the topic you want event posts to go to. This is how the app learns the group and topic.

Press Detect. It lists what the bot has seen — the group on its own, and each topic separately as "Group › Topic". Choose the one you want.

Save, then press Test. The confirmation tells you where it sent: a topic number, or the main group. Check the message arrived where you expect.

When several events share a group, the app decides which event a message belongs to by looking at what is being played: an Active event first, then a Practice event, then the next scheduled event, then the most recently completed one.

So during a round, messages land on that round. Between events, they land on whatever is coming up next. You do not have to re-link anything.

Each event has its own set of toggles in the Telegram Notifications panel:

Event goes live — one message when the event is activated.

Exceptional scores — a message when someone makes a birdie, eagle or ace.

Leaderboard updates — the current leaderboard every 10 minutes while the event is live.

Signup / withdraw / decline notifications — a line each time someone signs up, withdraws, opts out, or joins a side bet.

Post the signup report after changes — the full signup sheet as an image, showing who is in, who is out, who has not answered, and each player's tee, handicap and side bets.

Post the collections report after payments — the collections table as an image: tour fee and side bet amounts, what is paid, what is still owed, and the totals.

The three busiest notifications each have a "Wait ... minutes" box. This exists to stop a run of small changes turning into a run of messages.

The timer restarts every time something else happens. A player joining four side bets in a row produces one message after they finish, not four. A collector marking a dozen players paid produces one report at the end, not twelve.

For the signup and collections reports, the image is built when the timer expires, so it always shows the finished state rather than a half-completed one.

Set the wait to 0 on the signup notices to send each one immediately, which is how it behaved before the setting existed.

The Post Quick Signup button posts a signup link to the group. Members who have connected their Telegram account get a personal link that logs them straight in; anyone else is prompted to connect first.

Only photos come through from Telegram into the app. Videos, voice notes, stickers, documents, and photos sent "as file" are ignored, and the sender gets no warning.

Photos arriving from Telegram are Telegram's compressed copies, so they are lower quality in the Gallery than the same photo uploaded through the app.

The Detect button reads what the bot has seen. It cannot ask Telegram for a list of groups, so a group the bot has never received a message in will not appear.
